GOD
We believe in one God who is eternal and uncreated. He exists in three persons- the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit. God is sovereign over all things and is worthy to receive all glory.
(Dt. 6:4; Ps. 19:1-2; 201:25-27; Isa. 43:7; Matt. 28:19; Mk. 12:29; Eph, 4:5-6; Col. 1:15-17; 1 Tim. 3:16; 1 Jn 5:7; Rev 4:11)
THE BIBLE
We believe that God has revealed himself to us through the Bible. As originally given, it is without error, given to us by God through human writers. The Bible is our supreme authority in all matters of life, doctrine and godliness.
(Num. 23:19; Ps. 119:96, 160; Matt. 5:18; Jn. 10:35; 17:17; 2 Tim. 3:15-17; Tit. 1:1-2; Heb. 1:1-2; 1 Pet. 1:23; 2 Pet. 1:20-21; 3:15-16)
CREATION
We believe that God created the universe. Humanity was made as the pinnacle of God’s creation, created in the image of God and made to worship him.
(Gen. 1:1, 26-27; Isa. 43.7; John 1:1-3; Col 1:15-17; Heb. 1:2-3)
SIN
We believe that humanity rebelled against God. The universal guilt and sinfulness of humanity since the Fall means we are deserving of God’s wrath and condemnation.
(Gen. 3:1-6; Ps. 51:4; Isa. 13:11; Rom. 1:18, 21-23; 3:9-20; 5:12-14)
WHO JESUS IS
We believe that Jesus of Nazareth is the Jewish Messiah, promised in the Old Testament. He is the Son of God- fully man and fully God. He was born of the virgin Mary, lived in perfect obedience to his Father, taught God’s ways and showed God’s power, before he suffered, died and rose (bodily) from the dead.
(Matt. 1:1, 18-20; Lk. 24:25-27; Jn. 1:14, 18; 14:9; Rom. 1:2-3; 5:19; 1 Cor. 15:3-8; 1 Jn. 4:2)
WHAT JESUS HAS DONE
We believe that through his perfect life, sacrificial death and victorious resurrection, Jesus Christ brings forgiveness of sins to those who believe in him. He bore the wrath of God for us, taking the penalty of sin so that we might be declared righteous before God. The death and resurrection of Jesus is the only thing that can make an individual right with God. Salvation is by faith alone in Christ alone by grace alone. Salvation comes to those who are united to him in faith.
(Isa. 53:1-12; Mk. 10:45; John 14:6; Rom. 3:21-26; 6:3-10; 8:4; 1 Cor. 5:7; Eph. 1:7; Eph. 2:8-9; Heb. 2:16-17; 8:1; 1Pet. 2:24)
THE HOLY SPIRIT
We believe in the necessary work of the Holy Spirit, the Counsellor that Jesus promised. He convicts us of sin, leads to repentance, helps us to grow in our holiness, assures us of our salvation and equips us for the building up of the Church.
(Ezek. 36:25-27; Jn. 3:3; 14:26; 16:8; 1 Cor. 2:14; 14:1-40; Eph. 2:5; Col. 2:13; 1 Thess. 1:4-5).
THE CHURCH
We believe that the Church is the gathering together of believers in Christ. Jesus is the head of the Church and established the two ordinances of Baptism and the Lord’s Supper as visible demonstrations of the gospel in the life of the Church.
THE CHURCH
We believe that God’s people should be marked by Christ-like behaviour– prayerfulness, obedience, and love for God and one another. The mission of the church is to make disciples of Jesus by declaring the good news of the gospel to any that will hear it. We seek to see people saved through the gospel, to love those around us, to work for justice and righteousness, and to care for those who are in need.
(Dt. 15:11; Psa. 82:3,4; Jer. 22:16; Matt. 16:18; 22:37-40; 28:18-20; Rom. 6:3-4; 1 Cor. 12:28; Gal. 2:10; 5:22-26; Eph. 1:22-23; 4:4-6, 15-16; 5:25; Phil. 2:1-11; Col. 1:18, 28-29; 2:12, 19; Heb. 12:28; Jms. 1:27)
THE FUTURE
We believe that the Lord Jesus Christ will return as King of all things. When he appears, he will bring final judgment on the living and the dead. The unbelieving will be delivered over to eternal punishment, while those who belong to Jesus will receive eternal life in the new heavens and new earth.
