SRE in Schools

At Grace Church, we are passionate about nurturing the spiritual growth of our students, and we look forward to partnering with families and schools to bring the good news of Jesus to the children in our community.

We are committed to offering high-quality Christian education through SRE in our local schools, including Bemboka, Tathra, Bega Valley, and Candelo Public Schools.

Age Levels

The lessons are taught in the following stages:

• Stage 1 (Infants): Kindergarten to Year 2

• Stage 2 (Lower Primary): Years 3 to 4

• Stage 3 (Upper Primary): Years 5 to 6

Curriculum

Our SRE material is provided by Christian Education Publications (CEP), a trusted source of Bible-based teaching resources. The curriculum follows a 3-year cycle, ensuring that children across all stages of primary school receive a well-rounded and progressive understanding of the Christian faith.

The Curriculum used for Grace Church SRE lessons is Christian Education Publications (CEP). This has a 3 year cycle, is presented in 3 stages - infants, stage 1 and stage 2. It also  has a 5 year review and update by the publishers.

Teacher Authorisation and Training Process

The SRE teachers for Grace Church Bega Valley undergo the following process to become an SRE teacher:

1. Have a current Working with Children Check (WWC)

2. Safe Churches Course—Level 1 and 2

3. SRE Teaching Training via Baptist Churches of NSW SRE teacher training modules 1-8. This includes theory and practical training along with Code of Conduct and Child Safety training.

4. An interview with the SRE co-ordinator of Grace Church Bega Valley.

To maintain proficiency as an SRE teacher, Grace Church Bega Valley SRE teachers will:

1. Attend Grace Church regularly.

2. Attend the quarterly meetings where curriculum, classroom management, teaching strategies and any other issues will be discussed and ideas shared.

3. Undergo SRE teacher refresher courses every 3 years, using the refresher courses of the Baptist Churches of NSW.

4. Update their WWC when needed.

5. Annually complete the Safe Churches course of Grace Church Bega Valley.
